Hujayra yadrosi interfazasi davrida DNK molekulasining ikki hissa ortishi (replikasiyasi) natijasida hosil bo&#8217;ladi. Xromatida mitozning metafazasida ayniqsa yaxshi ko&#8217;rinadi. Bu davrda xromosoma 2 ta Xromatidadan iborat. Ular birlamchi belbog (tsentromera) orqali o&#8217;zaro birikkan bo&#8217;ladi. Mitoz anafazasida tsentromera uzilib, Xromatida yangidan hosil bo&#8217;ladigan qizlik yadrolarga tarqaladi va mustaqil (qizlik) xromosomalarga aylanadi. Meyozda gomolog xromosomalar o&#8217;zaro yaqinlashib, to&#8217;rtta xromatidadan iborat tetradani hosil qiladi. Xromatida o&#8217;rtasidagi farq krossingover natijasida yoki har xil Xromatidaning qismlari o&#8217;rtasida o&#8217;zaro almashinuv tufayli paydo bo&#8217;ladi. Ayrim fizik va kimyoviy omillar ta&#8217;sirida bunday almashinuv tezlashadi.
