O&#8217;zbekiston Qahramoni (2002). Filologiya fanlari nomzodi (1954), professor (1979). O&#8217;rta Osiyo universitetini tugatgan (1951). ToshDUning o&#8217;zbek filologiyasi fakultetida dotsent, professor (1955\u2014 95), &#8220;tafakkur&#8221; jurnalida bosh muharrir o&#8217;rinbosari (1996-97), &#8220;Jahon adabiyoti&#8221; jurnal bosh muharriri (1997 yildan). Sharafiddinov 20-asrning 60-yillaridan adabiyotshunos sifatida tanilgan. &#8220;Zamon. Qalb. Poeziya&#8221; (1962) kitobida adabiy asarlarni badiiylik qonuniyatlari nuqtai nazaridan tadqiq etgan. Uning tadqiqotlari adabiyotni milliy g&#8217;oyalar va adabiy qonuniyatlar asosida tahlil qilishga bag&#8217;ishlangan. &#8220;Adabiy etyudlar&#8221; (1968) kitobida ijodkor shaxsi va uning badiiy asardagi o&#8217;rni masalalari talqin qilingan. &#8220;Yalovbardorlar&#8221; (1974), &#8220;Iste&#8217;dod jilolari&#8221; (1976) to&#8217;plamlariga kiritilgan ilmiy maqolalari adabiy ijoddagi an&#8217;analar, mumtoz adabiyotni o&#8217;rganish vositalari va jahon adabiyotini o&#8217;rganish muammolari haqida. Sharafiddinov o&#8217;zbek adabiyotshunosligi va tanqidchiligida milliy va jahon adabiyoti an&#8217;analarini uyg&#8217;un qabul qilish tamoyillarini boshlab berdi. Sharafiddinov &#8220;Birinchi mo&#8217;jiza&#8221; (1979), &#8220;talant \u2014 xalq mulki&#8221; (1979), &#8220;adabiyot \u2014 hayot darsligi&#8221; (1980), &#8220;hayot bilan hamnafas&#8221; (1983), &#8220;go&#8217;zallik izlab&#8221; (1985) asarlarida o&#8217;zbek she&#8217;riyati, Nasri va tanqidchiligining muqim muammolarini yoritgan. Sharafiddinovning munaqqidlik faoliyatida 2 davr ko&#8217;zga tashlanadi. Birinchi davr sho&#8217;ro totalitar tuzumida kechgan bo&#8217;lib, unda adabiyotni totalitar mafkura g&#8217;oyalaridan himoya qilish, adabiy qonuniyatlar asosida tadqiqotlar olib borish muammolari tadqiq etilgan (&#8220;zaharxanda qahqaha&#8221;, 1962; &#8220;hayotiylik jozibasi, sxematizm inersiyasi&#8221;, 1979; &#8220;yurtin madhi bo&#8217;ldi so&#8217;nggi satri ham&#8221;, 1979; &#8220;she&#8217;r ko&#8217;p, ammo shoirchi?&#8221;, 1983). Ikkinchi davr munaqqid faoliyatida asosiy davr bo&#8217;lib, u istiqlol yillaridagi ijodini qamrab oladi. Bu davrda Sharafiddinov milliy adabiyotni shakllantirish muammolari, o&#8217;zbek adabiyotshunosligi va tanqidchiligini qayta qurish, jahon adabiyoti an&#8217;analarini o&#8217;zlashtirish hamda tarjima san&#8217;atini yuksaltirish masalalarini tadqiq etgan (&#8220;Bir tilda gaplashaylik&#8221;, 1987; &#8220;mag&#8217;zi puch so&#8217;zlardan bir tosh nari qoch&#8221;, 2000; &#8220;Qaydasan, Moriko&#8221;, 2002). Sharafiddinov o&#8217;zbek adabiyotini jahon adabiyoti bilan uyg&#8217;un tarzda o&#8217;rganish an&#8217;anasini boshlab bergan. Sharafiddinovning &#8220;istiqlol fidoyilari&#8221; (1993), &#8220;Sardaftar sarlavhalari&#8221; (1999), &#8220;ma&#8217;naviy kamolot yo&#8217;llarida&#8221; (2001) kitoblarida Abdurauf Fitrat, Abdulhamid Cho&#8217;lpon, Usmon Nosir, Abdulla Qahhor, Oybek, G&#8217;afur G&#8217;ulom, Maqsud Shayxzoda, Otajon Hoshimov ijodi yangicha nuqtai nazardan tahlil etilgan. &#8220;Cho&#8217;lponni anglash&#8221; (1993) asarida esa yangi o&#8217;zbek tanqidchiligi 20-asrda bosib o&#8217;tgan murakkab yo&#8217;lni talqin, tahlil qilgan, ko&#8217;plab munaqqidlar ijodi, estetik printsipini Cho&#8217;lpon ijodiga munosabat nuqtai nazaridan yoritgan. Sharafiddinov &#8220;20-asr o&#8217;zbek adabiyoti tarixi&#8221; o&#8217;quv dasturi (1997), &#8220;20-asr o&#8217;zbek adabiyoti&#8221; (1999) darsligi mualliflaridan. Sharafiddinov ijodining cho&#8217;qqisi &#8220;ijodni anglash baxti&#8221; (2004) kitobidir. Unda o&#8217;zbek adabiyotining jahon adabiy jarayonida tutgan o&#8217;rni va ilmiy-ma&#8217;naviy o&#8217;zanlari tadqiq etib berilgan. Sharafiddinov tarjima san&#8217;atiga tanqidchilik kontsepsiyasini olib kirdi. L. Tolstoyning &#8220;Iqrornoma&#8221;, P.Koeloning &#8220;Kimyogar&#8221;, A.Sevelaning &#8220;to&#8217;xtating samolyotni, tushib qolaman&#8221; asarlarini o&#8217;zbek tiliga tarjima qildi. Beruniy nomidagi O&#8217;zbekiston Davlat mukofoti laureati (1970), &#8220;mehnat shuhrati&#8221; (1997), &#8220;Buyuk xizmatlari uchun&#8221; (1999) ordenlari bilan mukofotlangan.
