Dastlabki romanlari \u2014 &#8220;misi chiqqan nikoh&#8221;, &#8220;Artist sevgisi&#8221;, &#8220;Keshel Bayronning kasbkori&#8221;, &#8220;havaskor sosialist&#8221; 1881\u2014 83 yillar chop etilgan. Shouning &#8220;tul xonadonlari&#8221; (1882), &#8220;Yurakxo&#8217;r&#8221; (1883), &#8220;Uorren xonimning kasbkori&#8221;, (1884) ilk pyesalari sahna yuzini ko&#8217;ra olmagan. Shu bois muallif ularni &#8220;yoqimsiz pesalar&#8221; (1898) nomi bilan nashr etgan. Shundan so&#8217;ng Shouning &#8220;Yoqimli pyesalar&#8221; (&#8220;qurol va inson&#8221;. &#8220;Kandid&#8221;, 1894; &#8220;taqdir arzandasi&#8221;, &#8220;Yashasak \u2014 ko&#8217;rarmiz&#8221;, 1895) hamda &#8220;Puritanlar uchun uchta pesa&#8221; (&#8220;shay- tonning shogirdi&#8221;, 1896-97; &#8220;Tsezar va Kleopatra&#8221;, 1898; &#8220;kapitan Brasbundning murojaati&#8221; e&#8217;lon qilingan. Ushbu pesalarni yaratish jarayonida Shouning dramaturgik metodi uzilkesil shakllangan va u &#8220;g&#8217;oyalar dramasi&#8221; sifatida shuhrat qozongan zamonaviy dramaturgiyaning asoschilaridan biri bo&#8217;lib qolgan. Jahon dramaturgiya tarixiga sermahsul dramaturglardan biri sifatida kirgan Shou 30 dan ziyod sahna asarlarini yaratgan. Shouning &#8220;Pigmalion&#8221; (1913), &#8220;Yuraklar vayron bo&#8217;layotgan xonadon&#8221; (191319), &#8220;olma ortgan arava&#8221; (1919), &#8220;Mafusail sari orqaga&#8221; (1918-20), &#8220;Avliyo Ioanna&#8221; (1923), &#8220;yomon bo&#8217;lsa ham, haqiqat&#8221; (1931), &#8220;millioner ayol&#8221; (1936), &#8220;Jeneva&#8221; (1938), &#8220;yaxshi qirol Karlning oltin kunlarida&#8221; (1939) kabi asarlari rang-barang mavzularga, turli janr ko&#8217;rinishlariga ega bo&#8217;lib, unda tarix va jamiyatda ro&#8217;y bergan voqealar yangicha talqin etilgan, jamiyatda sodir bo&#8217;layotgan o&#8217;zgarishlarni turli nuqtai nazardan ko&#8217;rsatishga qaratilgan. Shouning gumanizm g&#8217;oyalari bilan sug&#8217;orilgan dramaturgiyasi 20-asr adabiyotida muhim voqea bo&#8217;lgan, jahon dramaturgiyasi va teatrining keyingi taraqqietiga katta turtki bergan.
