Turli tezlikda harakat qiluvchi havo qatlamlari orasidagi ichki ishqalanish tufayli vujudga keladi. Atmosferada namlik va issiqlikni vertikal hamda gorizontal bo&#8217;yicha tekis taqsimlaydi va ma&#8217;lum qatlamlarda atmosfera tarkibining bir xil bo&#8217;lishiga olib keladi. Havo qatlamining harakat tezligi o&#8217;rtacha 4 m\/sekund bo&#8217;ladi. Havoning turbulentligi erkin atmosferada (2-3 kilometr) katta o&#8217;lchamdagi tsiklon yoki antisiklon vujudga kslgan vaqtlarda avj oladi. Bunda, asosan, havo va undagi suv bug&#8217;i, har xil qattiq va suyuq zarrachalar harakatlanadi.
