Odatda, vokal, cholg&#8217;u, xor va orkestr musiqiy lavhalaridan iborat. Musiqa katta o&#8217;rin egallagan drama san&#8217;ati shakllari qadimdan ma&#8217;lum. O&#8217;zbekistonda qiziqchimasxaraboz va qo&#8217;g&#8217;irchoqboz tomoshalari va boshqa musiqa bilan ijro etilgan. Kompozitorlik san&#8217;ati rivoji natijasida Teatr musiqasi yangi pog&#8217;onaga ko&#8217;tarildi, erkin almashinuvchi musiqiy lavhalar o&#8217;rniga muayyan spektakllarga maxsus musiqa asarlari yozila boshlandi (V.A.Mosart, Y.Gaydn, L.Betxoven, keyinchalik F.Mendelson, R.Shuman, M.Glinka, G.Berlioz, E.Grig, J.Vize va boshqalar). 20-asrda teatr spektakllaridagi musiqaning mavqei yanada kuchaydi, ba&#8217;zi musiqa (kantata, oratoriya kabi) janrlarining sahnaviy turlari yuzaga keldi (K.Orf, I.Stravinskiy, A.Onegger va boshqalar), yangi sintetik janrlar paydo bo&#8217;ldi (I.Stravinskiyning &#8220;Shoh Edip&#8221;, &#8220;Askar tarixi&#8221; va boshqalar).
