Hayvonlarda Nasl almashinishi birlamchi va ikkilamchi bo&#8217;ladi. Bir hujayralilarga xos bo&#8217;lgan birlamchi Nasl almashinishida jinsiy Generatsiya jinssiz ko&#8217;payadigan hujayra (agameta)lar bilan almashinib turadi. Masalan, foraminiferalarda almashinib turadigan nasl jinsiy va jinssiz individlar, ya&#8217;ni gamont va agamontlardan iborat. Gametalar hosil bo&#8217;lishidan oldin meyoz ro&#8217;y bergani uchun jinsiy avlod va gametalar gaploid, zigota va agamontlar diploid bo&#8217;ladi. Izomorf Nasl almashinishida Gametofit va sporofit bir xil (yashil, qo&#8217;ng&#8217;ir va ko&#8217;pchilik qizil suvo&#8217;tlarda), geteromorf Nasl almashinishida gametofit va sporofit har xil (yuksak o&#8217;simliklarda) tuzilgan. Suvo&#8217;tlarda Nasl almashinishining ikkala xili ham uchraydi.
