Ijtimoiy va ishqiy mavzudagi she&#8217;rlari jahon she&#8217;riyatining durdonalari hisoblanadi. Ilk she&#8217;riy to&#8217;plami &#8220;intilish va ehtiros&#8221; 1905 yil chop etilgan. &#8220;Bir siqim tuproq&#8221; (1910), &#8220;Sado va hushtak&#8221; (1911), &#8220;g&#8217;amgin o&#8217;yinchoq&#8221; (1912) to&#8217;plamlari, ayniqsa, kitobxonlar o&#8217;rtasida shuhrat qozongan. She&#8217;rlarining ko&#8217;pchiligi yapon she&#8217;riyatiga xos tanka va oq she&#8217;r janrlarida yaratilgan. Shoir tanka janriga chinakam demokratik mazmun baxsh etdi, uni yangi obrazlar va ritmlar bilan boyitdi. &#8220;Iste&#8217;dod qismati&#8221; (1906), &#8220;bizning ion guruhimiz&#8221; (1912) kabi romanlar muallifi. Isikavaning ko&#8217;pchilik she&#8217;rlari xalq ohanglari yo&#8217;lida aytiladigan yapon milliy qo&#8217;shiqlariga aylanib ketgan. Isikava hayotining so&#8217;nggi yillarida ijtimoiy masalalarga jiddiy e&#8217;tibor bergan.
