P.h. organizmni ultrabinaf- sha nurlardan himoya qilish, termore- gulyasiya funktsiyasini bajaradi. P.h. hayvonlar jinsni tanib olishi va ular rangining xilma-xil bo&#8217;lishida katta ahamiyatga ega. O&#8217;simlik gullarining xilma-xilligi ham P.h. b-n bog&#8217;liq. Pig- mentlar hujayra tsitoplazmasida maxsus pigment donachalarida sintezlanadi. P.h.ningfunk-tsiyasi nerv va endokrin sistema orkali boshqariladi. Ularning funktsiyasi mavsumiylik va endogen bio- ritmiklikka ham bog&#8217;liq. Pigmentasiya tirik organizmlarning tashqi muhitga moslashishida katta ahamiyatga ega. Odam te-risidagi tug&#8217;ma xollar melanoblast- larning noto&#8217;g&#8217;ri taqsimlanishi nati- ja-sida hosil bo&#8217;ladi.
