M.a.da tovush to&#8217;lqinlarining akustik xossalari, ya&#8217;ni moddalarda tarqalish tezligi va yutilish koeffisientla- rining t-ra, bosim va b. omillar b-n bog&#8217;likligi o&#8217;rganiladi. M.a. 20-a. 30-y. laridan boshlab, ya&#8217;ni ko&#8217;pgina modda- larda tovushning tarqalishida disper- siya hodisasi kuzatilganidan keyin, ayniqsa, tez rivojlana boshladi. M.a.da tekshiriluvchi ob&#8217;ekt sifatida, odatda, ultratovush olinadi: gazlarda chasto- talari W\u2014W Gts li ultratovushlar, suyuqlik va qattiq moddalarda 105-10* Gts li ultratovushlar, chastotasi ~1010 Gts (q. Gipertovush) li tovushlar tek- shiriladi. Qisqa, vaqt davomida sodir bo&#8217;ladigan jaraenlarning kinetika- sini o&#8217;rganadigan akustik usulni kam miqdordagi moddalarni yuqori bosim va turli t-Rada katta aniklik b-n tek- shirishga imkon beradigan yagona usul desa bo&#8217;ladi. Suyuqliklarda tovush tez- ligini va uning t-raga bog&#8217;liq ravishda o&#8217;zgarishini, mas, eritmalardagi ion- larning o&#8217;zaro ta&#8217;siri va b.ni aniqlash muhim ahamiyatga ega. Tovushning yuti- lish koeffisienta moddalardagi ichki ishkalanish, issiklik o&#8217;tkazuvchanlik va relaksasiya b-n bog&#8217;liq bo&#8217;lgan jarayon- lardan aniqlanadi. M.a.ning ko&#8217;pgina masalalari optik, spektroskopik va b. kompleks usullar b-n hal qilinadi.
