Fizik M. ichida ionlovchi nurlar muhim o&#8217;rin tutadi. Ular, o&#8217;z navbatida, elektromag- nitli (to&#8217;lqinli) va korpuskulyar omil- larga bo&#8217;linadi. Birinchi guruhga rent- gen, gamma va kosmik nurlar kiradi. Ik- kinchi guruhga beta zarrachalar (electron va pozitronlar), protonlar, neytronlar, alfa zarrachalar, yuqori va past harorat kiradi. Ionlovchi nurlarning barchatur- lari mutagenlik xossalariga ega, ammo sun&#8217;iy mutasiyalarni olishda, asosan, rentgen va gamma nurlari qo&#8217;llanadi. Kimyoviy mutagenlarga ko&#8217;pchilik alkil- lovchi birikmalar (Di-metilsulfat, dietilsulfat, etilenimin, N nitrozo- alkilmochevina, nitrozometilmochevina, nitrozoetilmochevina, etilmetan sul- fonat, Di-etilnitrozomochevina va b.), nuklein kislotalar azotli asoslarining analoglari, alkaloidlar va b. kiradi. M. orasida kantserogen va teratogen xossa- larga ega bo&#8217;lganlari ham uchraydi.
