S.da asosiy tur hosil qiluvchi elementlar Pb,Cu, Sb, As, Ag, Bi, Fe, Co va Ni o&#8217;nlab mineral turlari tarkibiga kiradi. Zn, Cd, Mn, Ge, Sn, Tl, Mo, Hg lar kam turli birikma- lar bersada, bularning ichida ham sanoat ahamiyatiga ega bo&#8217;lgan va keng tarqalgan muhim minerallar \u2014 sfalerit (ZnS), molibdenit (MoS2), kinovar (HgS^ap uchraydi. S.da izomorf aralashmalar holida uchraydigan elementlarga Ai, Ag, Ga, Ge, In, Tl va Re lar kiradi. H2S (Mae As2S, R5)ning hosilasi bo&#8217;lgan oddiy Sdan tashqari H2S2 (mas, G&#8217;e82) ning hosilasi Pers ulfidl ar; murak- kab sulfidlar (mas, Pb5Sb4Sn) va sul-fasollar [AsS]3~, [SbS3]3~ anionlari bilan; qo&#8217;shaloq sulfidlar (mas, xalko- piritlar) ham mavjud. S.ning Kristal- lokimyoviy ma&#8217;lumotlariga asoslangan zamonaviy tasnifida, asosiy kimyoviy tiplari orasida kichik sinflar mavjud bo&#8217;lib, ulardan struktura tiplariga mos bo&#8217;lgan guruhlar farq qilinadi. S.ning eng muhim guruhlariga: koordinasion S.ning kichik sinfiga \u2014 galenit PbS, sfalerit ZnS, pirrotin Fe,_xS, pentlan- dit (Fe,Ni)9Sg, kubanit CuFe2S3 xalko- pirit, bornit Cu5FeS4 va b. guruxlar; S.ning sinchl i kichik sinfiga \u2014 Argen- tit As2S, xira rudalar guruhlari; S.ning halqali kichik sinfiga \u2014 realgar AsS guruhi; orolli kichik sinfiga \u2014 pirit FeS2, kobaltin CoAsS \u2014 arsenopirit FeAsS va b. guruxlar; S.ning zanjirli kichik sinfiga antimonit Sb2S3, Mille- rit NiS, kinovar HgS guruhlari; S.ning qatlamli kichik sinfiga \u2014 molibdenit MoS2, auripigment As2S3, kovellin CuS va b. guruxdar kiradi. S.ning kattikligi 2\u2014 4, katlamli Sda 1-2 gacha (molib- denit, kovellin va b.), persulfidlarda esa 5\u2014 7 gacha (pirit va b.). Zichligi 4 g\/ sm3dan ortiq. S. Er yuzida oksidlangan- da osonlik bilan sulfatlarga, sunfa gidroksidlarga, karbonatlarga, ba&#8217;zan sof tug&#8217;ma elementlarga (mas, Si, Ag) aylanadi. Kuplab S. muhim rudali mi- nerallar bulib, rangli, og&#8217;ir, kamyob va tarqoq metallar, ularning qotishmalari va birlashmalari olinadigan xom ashyo hisoblanadi.
