S. usullari bilan atom, mole- kulalarning energiya sathlari, ulardan hosil bo&#8217;lgan makroskopik tizimlar va energiya satqlari orasidagi kvant o&#8217;tishlar o&#8217;rganiladi. Bular moddaning tuzilishi va xossalari to&#8217;g&#8217;risida muhim ma&#8217;lumotlar beradi. S.ning paydo bo&#8217;lishi (I. Nyuton birinchi bor Quyosh nurlarini spektrga ajratgan vaqti) 1666 y.larga to&#8217;g&#8217;ri kela- Di. Asosan, 19-a.ning boshidan spectral sistematik ravishda o&#8217;rganilgan. Atom S.si spektrlarni tahlil qilish yo&#8217;li bilan atom elektronlari qobiqlarining tuzilishini aniqlash; spektral chiziqlarning o&#8217;ta nozik struk- turasini o&#8217;rganish orqali atom yadrola- rining momentlari haqida ma&#8217;lumotga ega bo&#8217;lish; spektral chiziqlarning rav- shanligi, yutilishi, kengayishi va Su- rilishi orqali atomlar hosil qilgan muhitning xossalarini o&#8217;rganish bilan shug&#8217;ullanadi. Kristallar S.si da kri- stallardagi energetik holatlar va ular orasidagi o&#8217;tishlarni o&#8217;rganuvchi muhim usullar karaladi. S. elektronli va fo- nonli (panjaraning kvantlangan tebra- nishlari) bo&#8217;ladi. Mole kul yar S. \u2014 har xil jism molekulalaridan tuzilgan mu- rakkab gaz, suyuqlik va qattiq holatdagi moddalarning spektrlarini tekshiradi. Rentgen nurlari S.si moddaning elek- tron tuzilishini yutilayotgan, chikayotgan rentgen nurlari spektrlari hamda foto- elektron nurlanish spektrlari orqali o&#8217;rganadi. Yadro S.si S.ning alohida tadqiqot sohasi hisoblanadi. U atom yadrosining tuzilishi, yadro kuchlari va yadroning tur- li xossalarini o&#8217;rganadi.
