Silex chaqmoqtosh) \u2014 silikat kislotalarning tuzlaridan iborat murakkab modda- lar. Kristallar shaklidagi S. tabiiy birikmalar ichida juda ko&#8217;p uchraydi. Tabiiy S.ning kimyoviy tarkibi va tu &#8211; zili shi juda murakkab bo&#8217;lganligidan ularni faqat rentgen analizi yordamida o&#8217;rganish mumkin. S.ning struktura naza- riyasiga ko&#8217;ra, barcha kristall shakldagi S. asosini [SiOJ4~ tarkmbli tetraed- rlar tashkil qiladi. S.ning qattiqligi Moos shkalasi bo&#8217;yicha 4 dan 7 gacha, zichligi 2-4 g\/sm3. S.da izomorfizm xrdisasi keng tarqalgan; shunga kura, turli S. o&#8217;zaro izomorf ara- lashmalar (Mae andaluzit, sillimanit, kianit va b) hosil qiladi. S. tabiatda keng tarqalgan bo&#8217;lib, er pusti massa- sining 3\/4 qismini tashkil etadi. Bar- cha ma&#8217;lum minerallarning taxm. 1\/3 qismi S.dir. S.ning sanoat miqyosidagi ahamiyati katta. Ularning ba&#8217;zilari xom ashyo, ruda (nikelning silikatli rudala- ri, berilliy, litiy S. va h.k.), ba&#8217;zila- ri nometall foydali qazilma (mas, slyu-\u00a0 da, talk, gil, dala shpatlari, asbest) va qurilish materiali (granit, bazalt va b.), qimmatbaho va ziynat toshlari (zum- rad, topaz, granat, berill va b.) sifatida ishlatiladi. S. parchalanishi natijasi- da kvars (qum) SiO2 hosil bo&#8217;ladi; alyu- mosilikatlar parchalanganida esa, kum va kaolin H4Al2Si20 hosil buladi. Tabiiy S. b-n bir qatorda sun&#8217;iy S.ning ham a.xamiyati juda katta. Tabiat- dagi deyarli barcha S, shuningdek, tabiat- da uchramaydigan yoki kam uchraydigan S. sun&#8217;iy usulda olingan.
