Kimyoviy xossalarga ko&#8217;ra ko&#8217;p atomli spirtlarning vakili. Sanoatda ksilozani qaytarib olinadi. K. va uning 1,4-angidridi (ksilitan) \u2014 tsellofan qog&#8217;oz va atir-upa i. ch.da namlik PLA- stifikatori va stabilizatori, ksiftal alkid smolalar, sirt-faol moddalar, lok, elim va b. olishda komponent. K. shirin ta&#8217;mli (saxarozadan ikki Mar- ta shirinroq) bo&#8217;lib, odam organizmiga singmaydi.
