Ikki element o&#8217;zaro birikib, bir birikma hosil qilsa, bu birikmalardagi bir necha elementning massa miqdoriga to&#8217;g&#8217;ri keladigan ikkinchi element miqdori o&#8217;zaro oddiy karrali sonlar nisbatida bo&#8217;ladi; masalan, metan (SN4) tarkibida 75% uglerod va 25% vodorod bo&#8217;lib, unda 1 massa qism vodorodga 3 massa qism uglerod to&#8217;g&#8217;ri keladi, ya&#8217;ni 3:1. Etilen (S2N4) tarkibida esa 85,71% uglerod va 14,29% vodorod bor; bu moddada 1 massa qism vodorodga 6 massa qism uglerod to&#8217;g&#8217;ri keladi, ya&#8217;ni 6:1.
