Rangsiz, tarkibida temir, mis, marga- nes, titan va sh.k. elementlarning borli- giga qarab turli rangda bo&#8217;ladi. Olmos- Simon yaltiroq. Qattiqligi 9. Zichligi 4000 kg\/m3. K.ning (60-70%) magnetit, gematit shpinel b-n aralashmasi &#8220;na- jdak&#8221; deb ataladi (Naksos o., Gresiya). Metamorfik, metasomatik jarayonlarda hosil bo&#8217;ladi. Kanada, JAR, Qozog&#8217;iston (Semiz-bug&#8217;), Xibin va Ilmen tog&#8217;lari (RF) va O&#8217;zbekistonning Oqtosh, mol- guzar, Tomdi tog&#8217;larida K. konlari bor. K.ning faqat sochmalardan olinadigan shaffof va chiroyli ranglilari (sap- fir \u2014 ko&#8217;k rangli, yoqut \u2014 qizil rangli) qimmatbaho tosh sifatida zargarlikda ishlatiladi, unchalik toza bo&#8217;lmaganlari abraziv material. Texnik va zargarlik maqsadlarida ishlatish uchun sanoat miqyosida sun&#8217;iy K. olinadi. Cr2+, Fe3+ qo&#8217;shib olingan sun&#8217;iy K. kvant elektro- nikasi, soatsozlik, zargarlik sanoati va b.da ishlatiladi. Qo&#8217;shimchalarsiz olin- gan sun&#8217;iy K. radioelektronika sanoa- tida qo&#8217;llaniladi.
