Elektrodlar katta (2000-2500 V) kuchlanish man-baiga ulansa, kamera ichida tashki ionlashtiruvchi nurlanish- lar ta&#8217;sirida gaz ionlashib, zanjirda ionlash toki hosil bo&#8217;ladi (2-rasm.) Tok miqdori I. k.ga tushayotgan nurlar in- tensivligi hamda elektrodlarga ulangan manba kuchlanishiga bog&#8217;liq. Intensivli- gi juda kam bo&#8217;lgan nurlar gaz razryadli I. k. neytronlarni qayd qilish uchun ham ishlatiladi. Sekin neytronlarni qayd qilish uchun kameraning ichki sirtiga bor qatlami qoplanadi yoki kamera bor ftorid (BF3) b-n to&#8217;ldiriladi. Bu holda ionlash jarayoni yadro reaktsiyasi 10B(n, a)7Li mahsulotlari b-n amalga oshirila- Di.
