Asbob elektrodlariga kuchla- nish berilganda qizdirilgan katoddan chiqayotgan elektronlar ballondagi gaz atomlari (molekulalari) b-n to&#8217;qna-shib o&#8217;z energiyalarini beradi. Kuchlanishning ma&#8217;lum qiymatida elektronlar energiya- si gaz atomlarini uyg&#8217;otishga va ionlash- tirishga etarli bo&#8217;lib qoladi. Shu payt- da gaz razryadlari hosil bo&#8217;ladi. Hosil bo&#8217;lgan mus-BAT zaryaddi gaz ionlari mu- xitdagi elektronlar zaryadini qoplaydi. Shu sababli I. a. kichik ichki karshilik tufayli o&#8217;zidan o&#8217;n minglab amperli to- klarni o&#8217;tkazish qobiliyatiga ega bo&#8217;ladi. I. a. kuchlanishni barqarorlash, elektr tokini o&#8217;zgartirish (to&#8217;g&#8217;rilash), elektr energiyasini yorug&#8217;lik energiyasiga aylan- tirish, elektr zan-jirlarni kommuta- tsiyalash (qayta ulash) va b. uchun ishlati- ladi.
