T.h.b. muammosini Ch. Darvin (1859) o&#8217;zining divergentsiya kontsepsiyasida uzilkesil hal qilib bergan. Uning ko&#8217;rsatishicha, divergentsiya tur ichida boradigan kurash sharoitida tabiiy tanlanish tufayli dastlabki formadan eng ko&#8217;p farq qiladigan belgiga ega bo&#8217;lgan individlarning saqlanib qolishi orqali sodir bo&#8217;ladi. Zamonaviy tasavvurlarga qaraganda, T.h.b. dizruptiv tanlanish nazorati ostida boradi; buning uchun tur ichida keskin raqobat bo&#8217;lishi shart emas. T.h.b.ning allopatrik va simpatrik yo&#8217;llari bor. Allopatrik T.h.b. muayyan tur populyasiyalarining hududiy alohidalanishi bilan bog&#8217;liq. Tur arealining har xil qismida tarqalgan populyasiyalar turli yo&#8217;nalishlardagi tabiiy tanlanish ta&#8217;siriga uchraydi; geografik izolyasiya esa bunday alohidalangan populyasiyalar o&#8217;rtasidagi genetik informasiya almashinuviga to&#8217;sqinlik qiladi. Astasekin bunday populyasiyalarda mikroevolyusiya jarayoniga olib keluvchi genetik divergentsiya sodir bo&#8217;ladi va populyasiya individlari dastlabki tur individlaridan aniq farq qiladigan belgilarga ega bo&#8217;lib qoladi. Agar bu belgilar ajdod turning boshka populyasiyalari bilan chatishmasligiga olib keladigan bo&#8217;lsa, u holda hosil bo&#8217;lgan forma yangi turga aylanadi. Tur o&#8217;z arealidan tashqarida tarqaladigan bo&#8217;lsa, yangi hududda hali tabiiy tanlanish ta&#8217;sirida muvozanat holatiga kelmagan populyasiyaning yashab krlishiga olib kelishi mumkin. Bunday populyasiya tasodifan tanlangan individlar yig&#8217;indisidan iborat bo&#8217;ladigan yangi sharoitga moslanishga imkon beradigan tabiiy tanlanish ta&#8217;sirida genotipik jihatdan juda tez qayta qurilish (&#8220;genetik revolyusiya&#8221;)ga sabab bo&#8217;lishi mumkin. Kam sonli populyasiyalarning hududiy alohidalanishida mikroevolyusion jarayonlarda genlar dreyfi asosiy ahamiyatga ega. Simpatrik T.h.b. populyasiyada birbiridan farq qiladigan bir necha formalarning bo&#8217;lishi va ularning bitta umumiy hududda tarqalishi (polimorfizm) asosida sodir bo&#8217;ladi. Poliploidizasiya orqali o&#8217;simliklarda (ba&#8217;zan hayvonlarda) yangi turlar paydo bo&#8217;lishi simpatrik T.h.b. ning o&#8217;ziga xos usuli hisoblanadi. Bunda vujudga kelgan yangi turlar avval boshdan otaona populyasiyadan genetik alohidalangan bo&#8217;ladi. Agar ular jinssiz ko&#8217;payish yoki partenogenez xususiyatiga ega bo&#8217;lib, ajdod forma bilan chatishmaydigan bo&#8217;lsa, yangi tur sifatida saqlanib qoladi. Ba&#8217;zan &#8220;T.h.b.&#8221;terminidan keng ma&#8217;noda bir turning astasekin ikkinchi turga aylanishi (turlar sonining oshmasdan filetik T.h.b.), shuningdek, duragaylash orkali yangi tur hosil bo&#8217;lishi (to&#8217;rsimon evolyusiya) jarayonlarini tushuntirishda ham foydalaniladi.
