U 1898 yilda Toshkent viloyati, Bo\u2018stonliq tumanining Xumson qishlog\u2018ida tavallud topgan. \u00abMen,\u2014 deydi shoir o\u2018z tarjimai holida,\u2014 1905 yilda eski qishloq maktabiga kirib o\u2018qidim. Bu maktabda to\u2018rt yil o\u2018qib, o\u2018quv, yozuvni o\u2018rgandim\u2026 1910\u20141911 yillarda juda qiynaldik va shuning natijasida boshqa aka-ukalarim qatori men ham uyni tashlab ketishga majbur bo\u2018ldim\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nihoyat, o\u2018sha 1911 yili u Toshkentga kelib, bir boyga qarol bo\u2018lib yollanadi. Ayni paytda Toshkentning Eski shahar mavzesidagi Devonbegi mahallasida joylashgan \u00abXoniy\u00bb maktabida, keyinroq 1914 yili esa Shayxontohur mahallasidagi \u00abNamuna\u00bb nomli maktabda o\u2018qishni davom ettiradi. Shu bilan birga bosmaxonada ishlab, gazetalar sotish bilan kun ko\u2018radi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elbek 1919 yili sakkiz oylik muallimlar kursini bitirib, o\u2018qituvchilik qiladi. 1921 yildan boshlab Turkiston Xalq maorifi komissarligi qoshidagi ilmiy muassasalarda faoliyat ko\u2018rsatadi. O\u2018sha davrda nashr etilgan \u00abMaorif va o\u2018qituvchi\u00bb, \u00abInqilob\u00bb, \u00abBilim o\u2018chog\u2018i\u00bb kabi jurnallar bilan hamkorlik qiladi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elbekning dastlabki she\u2019rlari \u00abEl bayrog\u2018i\u00bb, \u00abTuron\u00bb, \u00abTurk so\u2018zi\u00bb, \u00abUlug\u2018 Turkiston\u00bb kabi gazetalarda bosilib chiqqan. 1922 yilga kelib, uning \u00abBir so\u2018roq\u00bb, \u00abO\u2018ksizning o\u2018limi\u00bb, \u00abQarg\u2018a\u00bb, \u00abBibixonim madrasasi\u00bb, \u00abTurkiston\u00bb kabi she\u2019rlari \u00abO\u2018zbek yosh shoirlari\u00bb to\u2018plamida Fitrat va Cho\u2018lpon she\u2019rlari bilan birga e\u2019lon qilingan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shoirning ilk to\u2018plami \u00abArmug\u2018on\u00bb 1921 yili nashr etilgan bo\u2018lib, u asosan masallardan iborat edi. Uning dastlabki she\u2019rlarida ko\u2018zga tashlangan mavhumlik bu to\u2018plamdagi \u00abQaysi biri bo\u2018ri\u00bb masalida ham sezilib turadi. Ammo \u00abKuchsizlar dunyosi\u00bb masalida shoirning niyat va maqsadi xiyla yorqinlik kasb etganki, bu hol muallif ijodi shakllanib borayotganidan darak beradi. Mazkur masalda tasvirlanishicha, endi azob chekkan el qonxo\u2018rlikdan o\u2018ch olish uchun kurashga kirishadi. Shunday qilib, shoir bosqichma-bosqich mahorat sari ko\u2018tarila bordi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O\u2018z ijodining tetapoya holatida ekanini sezgan Elbek \u00abMening hikoyam\u00bb she\u2019rida \u00abMen hali bitta ham she\u2019r aytmadim, faqat she\u2019r yo\u2018lidan qaytmadim\u00bb,\u2014 deb bejiz aytmagan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elbekning keyinchalik yaratgan \u00abMehnat kuylari\u00bb, \u00abG\u2018unchalar\u00bb, \u00abChirchiq bo\u2018ylarida\u00bb (1935), \u00abAshulalar to\u2018plami\u00bb, \u00abBolalar ko\u2018shig\u2018i\u00bb, \u00abShe\u2019rlar to\u2018plami\u00bb (1936) kabi kitoblaridagi she\u2019rlarida shoir dunyoqarashidagi, badiiy mahoratidagi takomil \u00abmanaman\u00bb deb turadi. Ayniqsa, shoirning \u00abSezgilar\u00bb to\u2018plamiga kirgan qator she\u2019rlari o\u2018zining da\u2019vatkorligi bilan ajraladi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elbek qator she\u2019riy to\u2018plamlar yaratibgina qolmay, o\u2018nlab dostonlar ham ijod etgan. Uning \u00abGo\u2018zal qiz\u00bb (1927), \u00abBizniki\u00bb, \u00abPaxta\u00bb (1929), \u00abO\u2018tmishim\u00bb (1929), \u00abChirchiq\u00bb (1929), \u00abBatrak kolxozi\u00bb (1930), \u00abTozagul\u00bb (1934), \u00abO\u2018zbekiston\u00bb (1934), \u00abBog\u2018bon\u00bb (1935), \u00abEtik\u00bb (1935), \u00abMergan\u00bb (1935) asarlari shular jumlasidandir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elbek \u2014 bolalar shoiri sifatida ham ancha barakali ijod qildi. Uning o\u2018sha \u00abArmug\u2018on\u00bb to\u2018plamidagi bir qator she\u2019rlari qatori \u00abG\u2018unchalar\u00bb, \u00abChirchiq bo\u2018ylarida\u00bb hamda \u00abKambag\u2018al yigit va pardasturxon\u00bb, \u00abOmonat\u00bb, \u00abErksiz polchi\u00bb, \u00abOna\u00bb, \u00abBolalar qo\u2018shig\u2018i\u00bb kabi bir qator she\u2019rlari, dostonlari, ballada va ertaklari fikrimizning dalilidir. Ayni chog\u2018da adib \u00abYozuv yo\u2018llari\u00bb, \u00abO\u2018rnak\u00bb, \u00abBoshlang\u2018ich maktab ona tili\u00bb, \u00abGo\u2018zal yozg\u2018ichlar\u00bb (1934) kabi qator darslik va qo\u2018llanmalar muallifi sifatida ham ma\u2019lumdir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elbek hikoyanavis sifatida ham adabiyotimiz tarixida iz qoldirgan. Uning \u00abDadamat\u00bb (1936) to\u2018plamiga kirgan \u00abChirchiq\u00bb, \u00abMen kim bo\u2018laman\u00bb, \u00abAna\u00bb, \u00abAnorgul\u00bb, \u00abQahhorxo\u2018ja\u00bb, \u00abDadamat\u00bb kabi hikoyalari adibning durustgina nosir bo\u2018lganligidan ham dalolat beradi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elbek bor-yo\u2018g\u2018i qirq yil yashadi.
