Dastlabki asarlari ekspressionizm g&#8217;oyalari bilan sug&#8217;orilgan. &#8220;Hammaga&#8221; (1919), &#8220;Doimiy qo&#8217;zg&#8217;olonda&#8221; (1920), &#8220;Xudo nomi bilan&#8221; (1921) asarlarida spartakchilarning qahramonligini kuylash bilan insonga xos yaratuvchilikni va adolatsizlikka qarshi kurash g&#8217;oyalarini ulug&#8217;laydi. Bexerning realizmga intilishlari bosqinchilik urushlarini qoralovchi &#8220;lyuizit&#8221; (1926) romanida yaqqol ifodalangan. U fashizmga qarshi adabiy harakatda muhim o&#8217;rin egallaydi. 1933-45 yillarda muhojirlikda yashaydi. &#8220;Baxt izlovchi va yetti gunoh&#8221; (1938), &#8220;Asr o&#8217;rtasiga qadam&#8221; (1958) va boshqa she&#8217;riy to&#8217;plamlari; &#8220;Vidolashuv&#8221; (1940) romani bor. Bu romani o&#8217;z biografiyasi asosida yozilgan. &#8220;Tajribalar&#8221; (1951\u2014 57) madaniyat muammolariga bag&#8217;ishlangan.
