Ijodiy faoliyati 60-yillarda boshlangan. 1962\u201464 yillarda turli ayblar bilan qamalgan va surgun qilingan. Ammo A. Axmatova, S. Marshak, D. Shostakovich singari mashhur kishilarning sa&#8217;y-harakati bilan 1965 yil surgundan ozod etilgan. Siyosiy tuzumga nomaqbul shaxs sifatida 1972 yilda Sovet davlati hududlaridan chiqarib yuborilgan; 1974 yildan AQShda yashagan. &#8220;Sahrodagi bekat&#8221; (1967), &#8220;Ko\u2019rkam davr intihosi&#8221; (1972), &#8220;Uraniya&#8221; (1987), &#8220;O&#8217;git&#8221; (1990) va boshqa she&#8217;riy to\u2019plamlari xorijda nashr etilgan. Bu to\u2019plamlarda yolg&#8217;izlangan kishi bilan bir kam dunyo o\u2019rtasidagi ziddiyatlar kinoyaviy ko\u2019tarinki uslubda aks ettirilgan.
