Peterburg Badiiy akademiyasida ta&#8217;lim olgan (1809-21). 1823-35 yillar va 1850 yildan Italiyada yashagan. 1836 yildan Peterburg Badiiy akademiyasida professor. Bryullov rus rang-tasviridagi klassisizm oqimiga romantizm va hayotdan zavqlanish kayfiyatini olib kirdi. Asarlari insonning go&#8217;zal, nafis his-tuyg&#8217;ularini kuylashi (&#8220;Virsaviya&#8221;, 1812), obrazlarining dramatik qudrati (&#8220;Pompeyning so&#8217;nggi kuni&#8221;, 1830\u2014 33), realistik an&#8217;analar, nozik psixologizmi (M. Lanchi portreti, 1851; avtoportret, 1848) bilan ajralib turadi. Bryullovning mujassamot tuzish va bezash mahorati ayniqsa hashamdor portretlarda to&#8217;la namoyon bo&#8217;lgan. &#8220;Chavandoz ayol&#8221; (1832), &#8220;N. V. Kukolnik&#8221; (1836), &#8220;I. A. Krilov&#8221; (1839) va boshqa asarlari rus realistik portretining katta yutug&#8217;i bo&#8217;ldi.
