Dal bilan hamkorlikda), &#8220;Oltin asr&#8221; (1930) filmlari syurrealizm ruhida ishlangan. 1932 yil Ispaniyada realistik hujjatli film (&#8220;nonsiz yer&#8221;) ni ekranlashtirdi. 1946-55 yillar Meksikada yashadi va 1960 yilda yana Ispaniyaga qaytib keldi. &#8220;Unutilganlar&#8221;, &#8220;Nazarin&#8221;, &#8220;Viridiana&#8221;, &#8220;kunduzgi go&#8217;zal&#8221;, &#8220;Oqsoch ayolning kundaligi&#8221;, &#8220;Bu notinch xohish nuqtasi&#8221;, &#8220;Robinzon Kruzo&#8221; Byunyuelning eng yaxshi filmlaridir.
