U 13 yoshida &#8220;Ramayana&#8221;dan parchalarni (sanskritchadan hindchaga) tarjima qilgan. &#8220;Vidyasundar&#8221; (1868), &#8220;Adolatli Xarishchandra&#8221; (1874) asarlari sanskritchadan qilingan ilk erkin tarjimalari edi. Bxaratendu Xarishchandra &#8220;Sevgi maftuni&#8221; (1875), &#8220;Chandravali&#8221; (1876), &#8220;Hindiston musibati&#8221; (1880), &#8220;Ostin-ustun shahar&#8221; (1881) kabi asarlari bilan zamonaviy hind dramaturgiyasiga asos soldi, uni mumtoz dramalarga ijodiy yondashgan holda, zamonaviy mavzu va g&#8217;oyalar bilan boyitdi. Bxaratendu Xarishchandra teatrlar tashkil etib, o&#8217;zi ham rejissyorlik, ham aktyorlik qilgan. Uning asarlari, adabiytanqidiy maqolalari vatanparvarlik ruhi, bosqinchilarga nafrat g&#8217;oyalari bilan sug&#8217;orilgan.
