Dezaminlanishda NH2 guruhi boshqa guruhlar (masalan, N, OH, OR) bilan almashinadi yoki qo&#8217;shbog&#8217;lar hosil bo&#8217;ladi. Biokimyoviy Dezaminlanish maxsus fermentlar ishtirokida boradi. Bir necha tur Dezaminlanish mavjud: oksidlanuvchi Dezaminlanish aminokislotalarning tirik organizmda parchalanishi natijasida ro&#8217;y berib, ajralib chiqqan aminoguruhlar o&#8217;rniga tegishli ketokislotalar hosil bo&#8217;ladi. Qaytaruvchi Dezaminlanish ikki aminokislota orasidagi oksidlanish qaytarish reaktsiyalari asosida ro&#8217;y beradi. Bunda ikkala aminokislota ham dezaminlanadi (masalan, alanin va glisin o&#8217;rtasidagi reaktsiya). Ichki molekulyar Dezaminlanishda to&#8217;yinmagan kislotalar hosil bo&#8217;ladi. Bir qator aminokislotalar (masalan, o&#8217;simliklarda asparagin kislota va ba&#8217;zi bakteriyalar; odam jigarida gistidin) shu reaktsiya asosida dezaminlanadi. Gidrolitik Dezaminlanishda oksikislotalar hosil bo&#8217;ladi. Bu reaktsiya asosida mog&#8217;or zamburug&#8217;lari, ba&#8217;zi bakteriyalar va hayvon to&#8217;qimalarida purin asoslari hamda pirimidin asoslari dezaminlanadi.
