AQSh olimi K.Porter fibroblastlar endoplazmasida kashf etgan (1945). Uning nafis tuzilishi elektron mikroskop kashf etilganidan keyin o&#8217;rganilgan. Endoplazmatik to&#8217;r hujayrada o&#8217;zaro tutashgan bir qavat membrana bilan tsitoplazmadan chegaralangan mayda vakuolalar va naychalar sistemasidan iborat. Endoplazmatik to&#8217;r qalinligi 5\u2014 7 nm, ko&#8217;pincha yadroning tashqi membranasi va hujayra membranasi bilan tutashgan. Endoplazmatik to&#8217;r silliq (agranulyar) va donador (granulyar) bo&#8217;ladi. Silliq Endoplazmatik to&#8217;r membranasida ribosomalar bo&#8217;lmaydi. Silliq Endoplazmatik to&#8217;r lipidlar horil bo&#8217;lishi va to&#8217;planishida, glikogen almashinuvida, trigliseridlar, steroid gormonlar sintezida, zaharli moddalar to&#8217;planishi va ajratilishida qatnashadi. Muskul tolalaridagi silliq Endoplazmatik to&#8217;r sarkoplazmatik to&#8217;rni hosil qiladi. Bu to&#8217;r Sa ionlarini otib chiqarish yoki tuplash orqali muskullarning qisqarishi va bo&#8217;shashini boshqarib turadi.
