Ba&#8217;zi olimlar G&#8217;azzol (ip yigiruvchi) oilasida tug&#8217;ilgan, shu sababdan G&#8217;azzoliy taxallusini olgan desa, boshqalari esa g&#8217;azola (tus yaqinidagi qishloq)da tug&#8217;ilgan, shuning uchun taxallusi G&#8217;azoliy deb hisoblaydilar. Nishopur (Sharqiy Eron) va Bag&#8217;dodda ta&#8217;lim olgan. &#8220;Nizomiya&#8221; madrasasi (Bag&#8217;dod)da Islom huquqshunosligidan dars bergan. Mudarrislikdan voz kechib, 11 yil zohidlikda hayot kechirgan, ilm bilan mashg&#8217;ul bo&#8217;lgan. 1105 yilda Nishopurga kelib, yana madrasada mudarrislik qildi, ammo bu hol uzoqqa cho&#8217;zilmadi. Tusga ko&#8217;chib borib 300 ga yaqin talabaga xususiy tarzda dars berdi. Uning fiqhga doir &#8220;Bosit&#8221;, &#8220;Vojiz&#8221;, &#8220;Vosit&#8221;, aqidaga doir &#8220;Qavoid al-Aqoid&#8221; (&#8220;Aqidalarning qoidalari&#8221;), &#8220;Arrisolat al-qudsiya&#8221; (&#8220;Qudsiya risolasi&#8221;), mutasavviflar uchun &#8220;Ihya ulum ad-din&#8221; (&#8220;Diniy ilmlarni tiriltirish&#8221;), &#8220;Mukoshafat ul-qulub&#8221; (&#8220;qalblar kashfiyoti&#8221;) asarlari mashhur. Shuningdek, &#8220;Tahofut al-falasifa&#8221; (&#8220;faylasuflarni rad etish&#8221;), &#8220;Kimyo-i-saodat&#8221; (&#8220;Saodat kimyosi&#8221;), &#8220;Maqosid al-falasifa&#8221; (&#8220;Faylasuflarning maqsadlari&#8221;) asarlari olim ijodida muayyan o&#8217;rinni egallaydi. G&#8217;azzoliy o&#8217;z asarlarida Islom ilohiyotini falsafiy jihatdan asoslashga harakat qilgan. G&#8217;azzoliy Xudoni aql orqali anglash mumkin emas, uni maxsus ruhiy, jismoniy harakatlar \u2014 sig&#8217;inish va ibodatlar orqali anglash mumkin deb hisobladi. Sunniylik aqidalarini tasavvuf ideallari bilan birga qo&#8217;shib talqin qilgan. G&#8217;azzoliy fikricha, insonning Alloh buyurgan amallardan o&#8217;ziga maqbulini tanlab olishi o&#8217;z ixtiyoridadir, shu bois mazkur xatti-harakatlari oldindan belgilab qo&#8217;yilishiga qaramay ular uchun aynan insonning o&#8217;zi mas&#8217;uldir. G&#8217;azzoliyga ko&#8217;ra, jon Xudo singari fazodan tashqarida, olam Xudo tomonidan yaratilgan. G&#8217;azzoliyning diniy tizimi tasavvufni an&#8217;anaviy Islom bilan birlashtirdi. G&#8217;azzoliy g&#8217;oyalari Islom tafakkuriga va o&#8217;rta asr Yevropa falsafasiga ta&#8217;sir ko&#8217;rsatdi. G&#8217;azzoliyni zamondoshlari &#8220;hujjat ul-Islom&#8221; (&#8220;Islom dalili&#8221;) deb ulug&#8217;lashgan.
