Zichligi 820 kg\/m3. Suyuklanish temperaturasi 169,6\u00b0, suvda yaxshi eriydi, bunda issiqlik yutiladi (1 gramm tuz 1 gramm suvda eriganda temperatura 15 dan -10\u00b0 gacha pasayadi). Ammoniy nitrat suyultirilgan nitrat kislotaga ammiak ta&#8217;sir ettirish yo&#8217;li bilan olinadi. MDH mamlakatlarida A, B va V markalari ishlab chiqariladi. A, B markasi sanoatda portlovchi moddalar (ammonitlar) tayyorlashda ishlatiladi. Ammoniy nitratning V markasi ko&#8217;proq tarqalgan, hosildorlikka kuchli ta&#8217;sir etuvchi o&#8217;g&#8217;it tarkibida 34% sof azot bor. Ekinlarni ekishdan oldin va o&#8217;sish davrida erga asosiy o&#8217;g&#8217;it sifatida solinadi, ayniqsa g&#8217;o&#8217;za parvarishida ko&#8217;p ishlatiladi. Ammoniy nitrat yuqori gigroskopik xususiyatga ega bo&#8217;lganligi sababli saqlash paytida nam tortib qotib qoladi. Shuning uchun u nam o&#8217;tkazmaydigan qoplarda quruq binolarda saqlanishi kerak. Ammoniy nitratning nam yutishi va qotishini kamaytirish uchun unga turli xil moddalar qo&#8217;shib, donador holda ishlab chiqariladi. Bu holdagi Ammoniy nitrat yaxshi saqlanadi.
