Talabalik yillaridayoq milliy ozodlik harakatida ishtirok qilgan. &#8220;Ertangi kun bizniki&#8221; (1945), &#8220;to&#8217;rt qalb, to&#8217;rt yo&#8217;l&#8221; (1959) kabi romanlarida, qo&#8217;p sonli hikoyalari (&#8220;o&#8217;g&#8217;lim \u2014 dushmanim&#8221;, &#8220;tosh to&#8217;shak ustida ming kecha&#8221;, &#8220;guruch&#8221; va boshqalar) da, &#8220;Zubayda&#8221; (1941), &#8220;ananas va atom bombasi&#8221; (1943), &#8220;Mangulik&#8221; (1951) kabi pesalarida, &#8220;daydi&#8221;, &#8220;Janob 420&#8221;, &#8220;uch dengiz osha sayohat&#8221; (M. Smirnova bilan hamkorlikda) filmlariga yozgan stsenariylarida jiddiy ijtimoiy muammolar yoritilgan, bu asarlar kuchli dramatizmi bilan diqqatga sazovor.
