O&#8217;zbekiston xalq artisti (1967). 2-jahon urushi qatnashchisi. Toshkent teatr va rassomlik san&#8217;ati institutida (194851) o&#8217;qigan. 1950-86 yillar Muqimiy teatrida, 1987 yil yanvar\u2014avgustda Hamza teatrida, so&#8217;ngra &#8220;O&#8217;zbekfilm&#8221; kinostudiyasida ishlagan. &#8220;Armug&#8217;on&#8221; spektaklidagi Ja&#8217;far Umarovning sahnada yaratgan ilk obrazidir. &#8220;Oltinko&#8217;l&#8221; (uyg&#8217;un)da G&#8217;ani, &#8220;nurxon&#8221; (K.Yashin)da Huzurxo&#8217;ja, &#8220;Farhod va Shirin&#8221; (Xurshid)da Shopur, &#8220;Ravshan va Zulhumor&#8221; (K.Yashin)da tersak rollari bilan tanildi. Umarov ijodida 50-yillar shakllangan xarakterli, lirik va kulgili-hajviy yo&#8217;nalishlar keyingi yillar ham davom etdi. Qahramonlarining fe&#8217;l-atvori va xususiyatlarini bir oz bo&#8217;rttirib ifodalashi, so&#8217;zlarini dona-dona va jarangdor talaffuz qilishi, qo&#8217;shiqlarini qahramon holatiga singdirib yuborishi, qarama-qarshi his-tuyg&#8217;ularni kuchli psixologik dramatizmda yetkazishi bilan Umarov san&#8217;ati alohida ajralib turadi. Isfandiyorxon (&#8220;G&#8217;azal fojiasi&#8221;), Ma&#8217;dalixon (&#8220;Nodira&#8221;), Sayd (&#8220;Guli siyoh&#8221;), masxaraboz (&#8220;o&#8217;n ikkinchi kecha&#8221;), Asqarali (&#8220;Mavlono Muqimiy&#8221;), Gung (&#8220;Qizbuloq&#8221;), Pantashvili (&#8220;Xonuma xonim&#8221;) kabi obrazlari bunga misoldir. Rejissyor sifatida &#8220;bag&#8217;ri tosh&#8221;, &#8220;Qaynona&#8221;, &#8220;ishqing bilan&#8221; kabi asarlarni sahnalashtirgan. Umarovning kino san&#8217;ati rivojiga qo&#8217;shgan xizmatlari alohida bo&#8217;lib, kinoda uning yangi qirralari ochildi, qiyofasi, chehrasi, ovozi, xatti-harakatlari, o&#8217;zini tutishi, ichki kechinmalarining yuzida, ko&#8217;zlarida zohir bo&#8217;lishi kinematografiya imkoniyati va ifoda vositalariga juda mos tushgan. Kinoda Salimboyvachcha (&#8220;Qutlug&#8217; qon&#8221;), Umar (&#8220;mahallada duvduv ran&#8221;), Madaminbek (&#8220;Favqulodda komis- sar&#8221;), Homid (&#8220;o&#8217;tgan kunlar&#8221;), Qoriev (&#8220;Inqilob chavandozlari&#8221;), Asqarov (&#8220;yoz yomg&#8217;iri&#8221;), Normat (&#8220;shijoat&#8221;), Sulaymonov (&#8220;falokat oyoq ostida&#8221;), Jabborov (&#8220;Shiddat&#8221;), Qo&#8217;ldoshev (&#8220;seni kutamiz, yigit&#8221;), Matnazar (&#8220;olovli sohil&#8221;) kabi 60 dan ortiq obraz yaratgan. U bir qancha televizion spektakllar (masxaraboz, &#8220;Qirolning dilxushi&#8221; va boshqalar)da ham o&#8217;ynagan. Dublyaj san&#8217;atining mohir ustasi sifatida tanilgan (1000 dan ortiq filmda ovoz bergan). &#8220;Bag&#8217;ri tosh&#8221;, &#8220;hayot yo&#8217;li&#8221;; &#8220;dil tortsa&#8221;, &#8220;yor yurgan ko&#8217;chalar&#8221;, &#8220;ton g farzandlari&#8221; pesalarining muallifi. Hamza nomidagi O&#8217;zbekiston Davlat mukofoti laureati (1970).
