Mashhur &#8220;Psixeya va Kupidonning muhabbati&#8221; (1669) qissasiga &#8220;ming bir kecha&#8221; ertaklari hamda Apuley (miloddan avvalgi 2-asr) ning &#8220;Metamorfozalar&#8221; asari asos bo&#8217;lgan. Lafontenning masal janridagi asarlari ko&#8217;proq shuhrat qozongan. &#8220;She&#8217;riy ertak va hikoyalar&#8221; (1-5-kitoblar, 1665-85), &#8220;masallar&#8221; (1 &#8211; 12-kitoblar, 1668-94) to&#8217;plamlarida o&#8217;tkir hajvchi, yirik mutafakkir, adabiyotda Uyg&#8217;onish davri an&#8217;analarining davomchisi sifatida maydonga chiqdi.
