Keyo universitetining frantsuz adabiyoti bo&#8217;limini tugatgan (1942). Talabalik yillarida she&#8217;rlar yozgan. 1945 yilda Xitoyga madaniy faoliyat uchun yuborilgan va Shanxayda yapon yozuvchilari bilan tanishgan. Yaponiyaga qaytgach, Xitoyda orttirgan tajribasiga asoslanib, &#171;To&#8217;lqin ostida&#187; (1948), &#171;Vatandan ayrilish&#187; (1950) va boshqa romanlarini yozgan. &#171;Vatan xoini&#187; (1951) va &#171;maydon yolg&#8217;izligi&#187; (1951) romanlari ham bor. &#171;Maydon yolg&#8217;izligi&#187; romanida yapon ziyolilari, uning Koreya urushi paytida paydo bo&#8217;layotgan militarizmga nisbatan tashvishlari aks etgan. 1977 yildan Ispaniyada yashagan. 1978 yil Toshkentga kelgan. Xottaning iste&#8217;dodi uning ijtimoiy romanlarida yaqqol ko&#8217;zga tashlanadi.
