O&#8217;rta dengiz mamlakatlarida 10-11 turi o&#8217;sadi. Frantsiya, Italiya, Hindiston, Jazoir va boshqa mamlakatlarda ekiladi. Rossiyaning Janub, Moldaviya, Ukrainada tikanli Artishok (S. scolymus L.) turi ko&#8217;proq ekiladi. Artishok juda sershox bo&#8217;lib, bo&#8217;yi 2 metrgacha boradi. Gullari ko&#8217;k-binafsha rangda, yirik to&#8217;pgul hosil qiladi (bir to&#8217;pguli og&#8217;irligi 100-200 gramm). Seret gulbandi va savatcha to&#8217;pguli ovqatga ishlatiladi. Artishokda qand, oqsil (2,5-3%), uglevod (7-15%), S (0,4 mg%), V, V2 vitaminlari, karotin, urug&#8217;ida 30% gacha moy bor. Xom va konservalangan, qaynatilgan Artishok souslar bilan iste&#8217;mol etiladi, salatlar tayyorlanadi. Uglevodlari tarkibida diabet kasalliklari uchun foydali bo&#8217;lgan inulin bor. Janub zonalarda 3\u2014 4 yillik, sovuq kuchli zonalarda bir yillik ekin, 100&#215;80 santimetr sxemada ekiladi. Hosildorligi 50-250 tsentner\/gektar (15\u2014 50 ming to&#8217;pgul). Artishok odatda ko&#8217;p yillik ekin tarzida ekilgandan so&#8217;ng ikkinchi yili gullaydi.
