Kimyoviy tarkibi (Fe2+, Fe3+, Al, Mg)6 [(Si, A1)4OJ (OH)8. Unda 40-45% temir oksidi bo&#8217;lib, tabiiy o&#8217;zgaruvchan. Har ikkala mineral birga uchrashi mumkin va ularni birbiridan farqlash qiyin. Monoklin singoniyada kristallanadi. Strukturasi kaolinitnikiga o&#8217;xshash. Shamozit oolitlar, tuproqsimon jinslar tarzida bo&#8217;ladi. Rangi yashilsariq, ko&#8217;k, kulrangqo&#8217;ng&#8217;irdan qoragacha. Qattiqligi 2,5\u20143, zichligi 3-3,3 g\/sm3. Mo&#8217;rt, xira yaltiraydi. Gipergen. Gilli yotqiziqlarda va cho&#8217;kindi temir rudalarida uchraydi. Shamozit siderit, temir sulfidi, markazit va pirit bilan assotsiatsiyada bo&#8217;ladi. Nurash natijasida oksidlanadi va temir gidrooksidlarini hosil qiladi. Ba&#8217;zan katta to&#8217;plamlar tarzida uchraydi. Temir rudasi.
