O’zbekistonda xizmat ko’rsatgan san’at arbobi (1944). 1917 yildan O’zbekistonda yashagan. Leningrad konservatoriyasini tugatgach (1929), Toshkent musiqa bilim yurtida (1929\u2014 36), Toshkent konservatoriyasida (1936 yildan) pedagog, «O’zbek musiqasi» kursini yaratgan. O’zbek ayollar qo’shiqlari, Xorazm maqomlari, dutor kuylarini notaga yozib olib, nashr ettirgan («Xorazm klassik musiqasi», T., 1939; «O’zbek laparlari» T., 1941; «O’zbek cholg’u musiqasi», T., 1948 va boshqalar).
