Radioaktivasion analiz dastlab Vengriya kimyogarlari D. Xeveshi va G. Levi tomonidan 1936 yilda ittriy preparatida disproziy miqdorini aniqlash uchun qo&#8217;llangan. Radioaktivatsion analizda tekshirilayotgan modda ma&#8217;lum muddat yadro zarrachalari (neytronlar, protonlar, deytronlar, Azarrachalar va boshqalar) yoki unurlar bilan nurlantirilgach maxsus qurilmalar yordamida hosil bo&#8217;lgan radioaktiv izotopning turi va faolligi aniqlanadi. Eng keng tarqalgani neytronaktivasion usul bo&#8217;lib, bunda tekshirilayotgan modda yadro reaktorida neytronlar yordamida (l, u) \u2014 reaktsiya bo&#8217;yicha faollantiriladi. Har bir radioaktiv izotop o&#8217;ziga xos yarim emirilish davri (T|\/2) va nurlanish energiyasi (Eemir)ga ega bo&#8217;lib, uning bu tavsifi boshqa radioaktiv izotopnikiga aslo o&#8217;xshamaydi. Izotoplarning bu tavsiflari maxsus jadvalga to&#8217;plangan. Jadvaldan esa shu radioaktiv izotop mavjud bo&#8217;lgan elementning tartib raqami va massa sonini aniqlash mumkin. Hosil bo&#8217;lgan faollik miqdori esa nurlantirilgan izotop miqdoriga Proportsional. Elementning izotop tarkibiga ko&#8217;ra shu elementning miqdori aniqlanadi. Moddaning sifat va miqdorini Radioaktivatsion analiz yordamida aniqlashda instrumental yoki radiokimyoviy usuldan foydalaniladi. Instrumental Radioaktivasion analiz hosil bo&#8217;lgan radioaktiv izotoplarni radiotexnik qurilma yordamida to&#8217;g&#8217;ridan-to&#8217;g&#8217;ri tekshirishga asoslangan.
