Birinchi marta (1837 yil) nemis muhandisi N. Sakston o&#8217;lchash asboblarida tebranuvchi ko&#8217;zgudan foydalangan. 1925 yil Germaniyada avtokollimasion kuzatish trubasi va tebranuvchi ko&#8217;zgudan foydalanib Optimetr tayyorlangan. Keyinchalik bunday asbob ancha takomillashtirilgan. Optimetrning vertikal va gorizontal xillari bor. Kuzatish trubasida o&#8217;lchash natijasi okulyar yoki proektsion usulda hisobga olinadi. Optimetr trubasining shkalasi 1 mkm li bo&#8217;linmalarga bo&#8217;lingan, shkala bo&#8217;yicha o&#8217;lchash chegarasi \u00b1 100 mkm. Bo&#8217;linmalarning qiymati 0,2 mkm, o&#8217;lchash chegarasi 25 mkm bo&#8217;lgan Optimetr Ultraoptimetr deyiladi.
