Umumiy formulasi [S6N7O2(on)3 x(ONO2)Jn. Zichlashmagan, oq yoki sarg&#8217;ish tolasimon massa. Nitrosellyuloza eng to&#8217;ngich polimer material, uni ilk bor frantsuz kimyogari A. Brakonno 1882 yilda olgan. Zichligi 1,58\u20141,65 g\/sm1, suvda erimaydi. Nitrosellyulozaning qanday maqsadda qo&#8217;llanishi tarkibidagi azot miqdoriga qarab belgilanadi. Amalda quyidagi turlari qo&#8217;llanadi (qavsda azot miqdori berilgan): kolloksilin (10,7\u201412,2%), prioksilin \u21162 (12,2\u2014 12,5%) va piroksilin \u21161 (13,0\u2014 13,5%). Kolloksilin tselluloid, plastmassa, fototasma, nitrolok, nitroelim va nitroemal ishlab chiqarishda, piroksilinlar tutunsiz porox, dinamit va boshqalar.
