Najmiddin Kavkabiyning yozishicha, Naqsh murakkab shakldagi ikki baytni qamrab oladigan kichik hajmdagi asar sifatida ta&#8217;riflagan. Naqshlar far&#8217;, turk-zarb, foxtazarb kabi qadimgi doira usullari asosida bastalagan. &#171;G&#8217;iyos ul-Lu-g&#8217;at&#187; (19-asr)ga ko&#8217;ra Naqsh shakli xurosonlik badihago&#8217;y baxshilar ijodi bilan bog&#8217;liq qolda yuzaga kelgan. O&#8217;tmishda Ustod Shodiy, Abdurahmon Jomiy, Alisher Navoiy, Kavkabiy, Feruz va boshqalarning Naqshlari mashhur bo&#8217;lgan. Shashmaqom tarkibidan o&#8217;rin olgan Naqshlar bizgacha umumiy (tarona) nomi etib kelgan. Shu jumladan, Nasri Bayot taronasi, Nasri Ushshoq Taronasi, Segoh Taronasi kabi ashula yo&#8217;llarida Naqsh xususiyatlari namoyon bo&#8217;ladi. Xorazm maqomlari aytim yo&#8217;llaridagi Naqsh esa o&#8217;z nomi bilan yuritiladi.
