Landino va boshqalar), 16-asrdan ko&#8217;proq lirik xarakterdagi cholg&#8217;ular jo&#8217;rligisiz ijro etiladigan 4-5 ovozli polifonik musiqa asariga aylangan (A. Villart, Palestrina, O. Lasso va b.). Keyinchalik Angliya (T. Morli, J. Uilbi) va Germaniya (G. Shyus va boshqalar)da ommalashgan. Yetuk namunalariga (K. Jezualdo, K. Monteverdi) hissiy-ifoda erkinligi, boy musiqiy-tasviriy vositalar, xilma-xil ohanglar yorqinligi xosdir. 17-asrdan boshlab, Madrigal, asosan, ayollarga bag&#8217;ishlangan kichik maqtov-she&#8217;riy asar. 1964 yil Moskvada &#171;Madrigal&#187; ansambli tashkil etilgan (O&#8217;zbekistonda ham gastrolda bo&#8217;lgan), Buyuk Britaniyada &#171;Madrigal jamiyati&#187; tuzilgan. 20-asrda I. Stravinskiy, B. Martinu, P.
