Materi-alning ham tashqi kuch, ham ichki kuch ta&#8217;sirida (&#171;o&#8217;z-o&#8217;zidan&#187;) emiri- lishga chidamliligi pishiqlik deb atala- Di. Pishiklik M.ni ham o&#8217;z ichiga oladi. M. jismni tashkil qiladigan atomlar, molekulalar va ionlarning o&#8217;zaro ta&#8217;- sirlashuv kuchlariga (bu kuchlarning kat- takichikligiga) bog&#8217;liq bo&#8217;ladi. Yuqorida aytib o&#8217;tilgan omillarning qaysi biri mavjudligiga qarab, M. pi- shiklik chegarasi, oquvchanlik chegarasi, toliqish chegarasi va b. o&#8217;lchovlar b-n ifodalanadi. Materiallarning M.gi che- garalari qiymati davlat standartlarida belgilab qo&#8217;yiladi. M. shu qiymatga et- ganda materialdan foydalanish xavfli hisoblanadi. Materiallarning M. che- garasi N\/m2 (ya&#8217;ni muayyan yuzaga ta&#8217;sir qiladigan kuch) b-n o&#8217;lchanadi. Materiallarning M.gini oshirish juda muhim tadbir qisoblanadi. Buning uchun materialga termik (issiqlik) yoki mexanik ishlov beriladi, qotishmalarga legirlovchi qo&#8217;shimchalar qo&#8217;shiladi (q. Legirlash), material radioaktiv mod- dalar b-n nurlantiriladi, armaturalar va b. mustahkamlovchi elementlar b-n ku- chaytiriladi (mas, temir-beton materi- allarda beton ichiga temir armaturalar qo&#8217;yib ketiladi). Materiallarning M.gi masalalari b-n materiallar qarshiligi fani shu- g&#8217;ullanadi. Bironbir materialni mu- ayyan bir maqsadda ishlatish uchun (mas, mashina detallari yasash, imorat qurish, relelar tayyorlash va b.) u M.ka sinab ko&#8217;riladi (q. Materiallarni sinash). Buning uchun turli usullar, asboblar, mashinalar, stendlar, xisobkitoblar, formulalardan foydalaniladi.
