Asosan 3 bosqichdan iborat: reaktsiyaga kirishuvchi moddalarning fazalar chegarasiga \u2014 re- aktsiya zonasiga kelishi; reaktsiya; reak- tsiya mahsulotining reaktsiya zonasidan chetlashishi. Bu bosqichlarning har biri, o&#8217;z navbatida, elementar bosqichlardan iborat. M.k. kimyoviy va elektrokimyoviy xillarga bo&#8217;linadi. Kimyoviy M.k. me- tallarning oksidlanishi va oksidlovchi komponentning qaytarilishidan iborat. Bunday korroziya elektr o&#8217;tkazmaydigan agressiv mu-hitda sodir bo&#8217;ladi. Elek- trokimyoviy M.k. metallarning elektr toki utkazadigan suyuq muhitda \u2014 elek- trolitlar eritmasida emirilishi. Bun- da metall zarralari elektrolit eritma- sida eritmaga o&#8217;tadi. M.k. emirilish xarakteriga kura, quyidagi turlarga bo&#8217;linadi: tekis, mahalliy, kristallitlararo va korrozi-on darz. Korroziya natijasida har yili yig&#8217;ilgan va inson ishlatadigan bar- cha metallarning 1-1,5% i yo&#8217;qoladi.
