K. ning vazifasi Kristal- larni tasniflash, ularni o&#8217;rganishning maxsus usullarini ishlab chiqish va amalda ishlatish yo&#8217;llarini izlab to- pishdan iborat. Kristallarning xarak- terli xususiyatlari ularning simmetri- yasidir. Kristallarning simmetriyasi ularning shaklida, strukturasida va b. xususiyatlarida o&#8217;z aksini topadi. K. matematika, fizika, kimyo, mineralogiya, metallshunoslik, texnika (Radiotex- Nika, mexaniqa) fanlari b-n bevosita bog&#8217;liq. K. qadimdan mineralogiya b-n uzviy bog&#8217;lanib, kristallarni qirralash qonunlarini o&#8217;rganuvchi mustaqil fan sifatida rivojlangan. Zavonaviy K. 5 ta asosiy bo&#8217;limlarga bo&#8217;linadi: geom etrik K. \u2014 kristallar- ning simmetriya \u2122 , strukturasi va mor- fologiyasini o&#8217;rganadi; kristalloge- nez \u2014 kristallarninghosil bo&#8217;lishi va o&#8217;sishini tekshiradi; kristallofizika \u2014 kristallarning optik, elektrik, me- xanik, magnit va b. xossalarini tadqiq qiladi; kristallokimyo \u2014 kristallik moddalarning kimyoviy tarkibi, struk- turasi, xossalari va morfologiyalari orasidagi bog&#8217;lanish qonuniyatlarini, shuningdek, ularning qosil bo&#8217;lish ja- rayonlari va qonuniyatlarini o&#8217;rganadi; amaliy K. \u2014 kristallarni o&#8217;stirish usullari va apparaturalarini ishlab chiqadi hamda ulardan texnikada foy- dalaniladi. K. ning asosiy tekshirish usullariga goniometrik, kimyoviy, op- tik, rentgenostrukturaviy, elektrono- grafik, neytronografik, kristalloki &#8212; myoviy analizlar, kristallarni o&#8217;stirish hamda ularni o&#8217;lchash va b. kiradi. Hozir bir qancha ilgor mamlakat- larda radiotexnika, elektronika, lazer texnikasi sohalarida keng ishlatila- digan pezokvars (billur), yoqut va sh. k. kristallarni lab. va z-D sharoiti- da yaratilmoqda. Hozirgi kunda yangi yo&#8217;nalish \u2014 kosmik K. rivojlanmokda.
