Organizm hayot faoli- yati davomida har bir hujayrada ichki yoki tashqi muhitga ajratiladigan me- tabolizm mahsuloti hosil bo&#8217;ladi. Agar sekret ajratish maxsus hujayraning asosiy funktsiyasi bo&#8217;lsa, bu funktsiya S. deb ataladi. Tashki yoki ekzokrin S. (bez hosil qilgan mahsulot tashqariga chiqariladi), ichki yoki endokrin S, yoxud inkresiya (sintezlangan moddalar qon yoki limfaga ajratiladi) bo&#8217;ladi.
