Ikkinchisi odam va hayvonlar tanasida quyoshning Ultra- binafsha nurlari ta&#8217;sirida 7-degidro- xolesterin (provitamin D,)dan olinadi. K.ning asosiy manbai baliklar, kitlar va ba&#8217;zi b. hayvonlar jigaridagi yog&#8217;lar, nurlantirilgan achitqilar hisoblanadi. K. ichakda kaltsiy va fosfor almashi- nuvi, ularning buyrakda reabsorbtsiyasi (qayta so&#8217;rilishi)ni va bu tuzlarning suyak to&#8217;qimasidan chiqarib tashlanishini boshqaradi. Vitamin D ning etishmasli- gi skeletni minerallashtiradi (raxit va skelet to&#8217;qimasining yumshoq bo&#8217;lib qolishiga sabab bo&#8217;ladi). Vitamin D me&#8217;yoridan ko&#8217;p bo&#8217;lganda qonda miqdori ortadi. Bu vitamin yumshoq to&#8217;qimada to&#8217;planib boradi (gipervitaminoz).
