T.m. kurilishi 1973 y.da boshlangan, birinchi liniyasining 9 styadan iborat, uz. 12,2 km birinchi navbati (&#171;Sobir Rahimov&#187;, &#171;Chilonzor&#187;, &#171;Mirzo Ulug&#8217;bek&#187;, &#171;Hamza&#187;, &#171;Yoshlik&#187;, &#171;xalklar do&#8217;stligi&#187;, &#171;Paxtakor&#187;, &#171;Mustakillik maydoni&#187;, &#171;Markaziy xiyobon&#187; bekatlari) 1977 y. 6 noyab. da, ikkinchi navbati (&#171;Hamid Olimjon&#187;, &#171;Pushkin&#187;, &#171;Buyuk ipak yo&#8217;li&#187; bekatlari, uz, 4,6 km) 1980 y. 18 avg.da foydalanishga topshirildi, bekatlar soni 12 taga etdi. T. m.ning umumiy uz. 8 km bo&#8217;lgan ikkinchi liniyasining birinchi navbati (&#171;Alisher Navoiy&#187;, &#171;Uzbekistan&#187;, &#171;Kosmonavtlar&#187;, &#171;Oybek&#187;, &#171;Toshkent&#187; bekatlari) 1984 y. noyab.da, ikkinchi navbati (&#171;Mashinasozlar&#187;, &#171;Chkalov&#187; bekatlari) 1987 y. noyab.da ishga tushdi. Shu liniyaning uchinchi navbati 1989 y. noyab.da (&#171;G&#8217;afur G&#8217;ulom&#187;, &#171;Chorsu&#187; bekatlari, uz. 2,2 km), to&#8217;rtinchi navbati (&#171;tinchlik&#187; va &#171;Beruniy&#187; bekatlari, uz. 3,2 km) 1991 y. 30 apr.da ishga tushdi. Bu liniyaning umumiy uz. qariyb 15 km ga etdi. T. m.ning shahar markazini Yunusobod turar joy massivi bilan bog&#8217;laydigan (umumiy uz. 14 km) uchinchi liniyasining birinchi navbati (&#171;Mingo&#8217;rik&#187;, &#171;Yunus Rajabiy&#187;, &#171;Abdulla Qodiriy&#187;, &#171;Minor&#187;, &#171;Bodomzor&#187;, &#171;Habib Abdullaev&#187; bekatlari) 2001 y. 26 oktyabrda ishga tushdi. T. m.da qatnaydigan poezdlarning o&#8217;rtacha tezligi 39 km\/soat, maksimal tezligi 65 km\/soat. T.m.da sugkasiga o&#8217;rtacha 270-300 ming yo&#8217;lovchi tashiladi. Yo&#8217;lovchilarga qulaylik yaratish uchun ba&#8217;zi bekatlarda eskalatorlar o&#8217;rnatilgan. Metrodagi &#171;Chilonzor&#187;, &#171;Hamza&#187; bekatlari gumbazsimon, &#171;Mustaqillik maydoni&#187; yig&#8217;mamonolit konstruktsiyali kolonna tipida, boshqa bekatlar esa kolonna tipida qurilgan. Har bir bekatning badiiy me&#8217;morlik hamda haykaltaroshlik nuktai nazaridan bezatilishi ramziy ravishda shu bekat nomini aks etdiradi. Ularda madaniy, monumental dekorativ va amaliy san&#8217;atning milliy an&#8217;analari o&#8217;z aksini topgan. Bekatlarga bezak berishda, asosan, O&#8217;zRda chiqadigan qora, qizil, kulrang granitlar, turli xil marmar, keramika, stomalit, yog&#8217;och, oyna, turli xil metall va b. foydalanilgan. T. m. 9 balli zilzilaga bardosh beradi. T.m.ning umumiy uz. 38,25 km, bekatlar soni 29 ta (2004).
