O&#8217;zbekiston (408 km), Qirg&#8217;iziston (272 km), Xitoy (260 km) hududlaridan o&#8217;tadi. Yo&#8217;lda dengiz sathidan turlicha balandlikda bo&#8217;lgan 6 ta dovon bor. Shundan O&#8217;zbekistonda Kamchiq (dengiz sathidan 2268 m) va Rezak (2254 m) dovonlarida tunnellar qurilgan (q. Kamchiq dovoni). Qirg&#8217;iziston hududida Chayirchiq (2406 m), Toldiq (3645 m), Taunmurun (3536 m) dovonlari osha o&#8217;tiladi. Qadimda Buyuk ipak mulining asosiy yo&#8217;nalishlaridan biri hisoblangan karvon yo&#8217;li bo&#8217;lgan. 20-a.ning 30-y.larida ilk bor muhandislik inshooti ko&#8217;rinishida, uni kesib o&#8217;tuvchi Daryo va soylarga ko&#8217;prik va quvurlar qurilib, er poyining kengligini 8 m ga etkazib, qatnov qismiga shag&#8217;altosh qoplama yotqizilgan va butun yo&#8217;l yo&#8217;nalishi bo&#8217;ylab yo&#8217;lni saqlash xizmati tashkil qilingan, shu davrdan boshlab xalqaro ahamiyatli avtomobil yo&#8217;liga aylandi. 1960-70-y.lar oralig&#8217;ida yo&#8217;ldagi transport qatnovining ortib borayotganligi hisobga olinib, yo&#8217;lning parametrlari (kengligi) III\u2014IV toifaga (10-12 m)ga keltirilib, tegishli zaruriy qismlariga asfaltbeton va qora to&#8217;shamalar yotqizilib, qayta ta&#8217;mirlangan. 20-a. oxiriga kelib yo&#8217;lning xalqaro ahamiyati kuchaydi. 1997 y. 24-28 apr. da Toshkent sh.da 18 mamlakat ishtirokida yo&#8217;lni ta&#8217;mirlash, undan foydalanish va shu yo&#8217;nalishda t.y. kurish masalalariga bag&#8217;ishlangan xalqaro kengash o&#8217;tkazildi. 1998 y. 19 Fev. da O&#8217;zbekiston, Qirg&#8217;iziston, Xitoy hukumatlari o&#8217;rtasida T. \u2014 A. \u2014 O&#8217;. \u2014 Q. a.y.da xalqaro avtomobil transporta qatnovi to&#8217;g&#8217;risida bitim imzolanib, yo&#8217;l qurilishi boshlandi. Avtomobil yo&#8217;lidagi yillik urtacha transport qatnovi jadalligi yo&#8217;lning turli uchastkalarida turlicha: O&#8217;zbekiston xududida Toshkent \u2014 O&#8217;sh oralig&#8217;ida 10000-19000 avtomobilg&#8217; kun; O&#8217;sh\u2014Saritosh oralig&#8217;ida 3000\u2014 4000 avtomobilg&#8217;kun; Ergashtom \u2014 Qashqar oralig&#8217;ida 500-5000 avtomobil\/kun (2004). Yo&#8217;lning Toshkentdan Qirg&#8217;izistonning O&#8217;sh sh.gacha bo&#8217;lgan qismi (A373) asfaltbeton to&#8217;shamali, 292 km \u2014I toifali, 116 km \u2014II toifali. Yo&#8217;lning O&#8217;sh sh.dan Saritosh shaharchasigacha bo&#8217;lgan qismi (M41) 184 km asfaltbeton va qora to&#8217;shamali, II \u2014 III toifali. Saritosh shaharchasidan \u2014 Ergashtom ovuligacha bo&#8217;lgan qismi davlat ahamiyatidagi yo&#8217;l bo&#8217;lib 78 km ni tashkil qiladi, qora shag&#8217;al to&#8217;shamali, IV toifaga kiradi. Yo&#8217;lning XXR hududidagi 260 km li qismi III \u2014IV toifali, xalqaro ahamiyatli, asfaltbeton to&#8217;shamali.
