Bolalarning aqliy va jismoniy qobiliyatlarini rivojlantirishni, umumiy o&#8217;rta ma&#8217;lumotga ega bo&#8217;lishlarini, hayot va mehnatga tayyorlashni maqsad qilib qo&#8217;yadi. T. ko&#8217;r va zaif ko&#8217;ruvchi bolalar uchun ta&#8217;limni takomillashtirish yo&#8217;llarini, o&#8217;quvtarbiya jarayonini tashkil etish metodlarini, maxsus maktab hamda maktabgacha muassasalar tuzilmasini, ularning ta&#8217;limtarbiyasining tashkiliy shakllarini ishlab chiqadi. T. ning eng muhim vazifasi bolalarda saklanib qolgan ko&#8217;rish imkoniyatlaridan o&#8217;qish jarayonida to&#8217;g&#8217;ri foydalanish va uni rivojlantirish, ko&#8217;rish imkoniyatla &#8212; rini saqlash uchun sharoit vujudga keltirish, ta&#8217;limning texnika vositalarini qo&#8217;llashdan iborat. T. umumiy va maxsus ped., psixologiya, fiziologik optika, oftalmologiya, pediatriya, maktab gigienasi, oliy nerv faoliyati fiziologiyasi, tilshunoslik, tiflotexnika fani ma&#8217;lumotlariga suyanadi.
