Spirtda va kontsentrlangan nitrat kislotada erimaydi. Ishqoriy metallar nitratlari, ammoniy nitrat va bariy bromid bilan evtektik aralashmalar, kobalt va strontsiy nitratlar bilan qattiq eritmalar hosil qiladi. 595\u00b0 dan yuqori temperatuada bariy nitritga aylanib, 670\u00b0 atrofida bariy oksidgacha ajraladi. Tabiatda nitrobarit minerali holida uchraydi. Bariy nitrat bariy sulfid yoki bariy karbonatga nitrat kislota, shuningdek almashinish reaktsiyalaridan foydalanib bariy xlorid, bariy gidroksid yoki bariy sulfidga kaltsiy, ammoniy, kaliy yoki natriy nitratlar ta&#8217;sir ettirib olinadi.
